The British Egg Information Service
Believe it or not this actually exists. What these guys don't know about eggs is probably not worth knowing. The site has recipes, nutritional information and lots of fun things for kids to do - check out the joke section!
Rescue a Battery Hen!
This site is designed to make people aware of the plight of the battery hen and looks at various aspects surrounding the battery hen industry. The battery hen farming system entails laying hens spending their shortened lives confined in small wire cages with many other hens. Under EU law, each hen has the floor space allowance of 550cm - the equivalent of less than an A4 sheet of paper!
Christine Kaltoff
My current collection of jewellery is based primarily on a series of quick sketches I made of birds (including my pet chickens) as they strutted, pecked, flapped and preened. My aim was to capture their lightness, volume, movement and essential birdiness. Some of my jewellery was inspired by a battery hen rescue I participated in, where the scared and scary mass of chickens in the back of a van gradually revealed themselves to be spirited, curious individuals, eager to start carrying out normal chicken behaviours for the first time.
