I got my original two chickens, Gingernut Rangers called Buzz (Lightyear!) & Poppy along with my red eglu in May 07 "on a whim" for an early birthday present- since then I've been bitten by the chicken bug & never looked back.
In May 08 I increased my flock to four with the arrrival of my Bluebelle Gertrude & my Speckledy Rosa (be forwarned- chicken keeping can become addictive, I found I didn't want to stop at just two hens!) In fact, I don't want to stop at four hens, either. We hatched in April & out of this hatch we have 2 lovely Light Sussex hens. We raised the cockerels for meat, & they have now been dispatched.
Come along to my party to see how my chickens, children & cats "live" together in harmony in my small suburban back garden, and to see my purple eglu cube. I have over 2 1/2 years experience of hen-keeping, and in that time have come across common chicken ailments- lice & worms- moulting chickens and also of chicken introductions, all of I will be pleased to share with you. My very friendly chicken, Buzz, is always happy to have a cuddle by party guests, and to be my demonstrating chicken! She has also been into my younger son's school with me this springtime for a talk to the Reception class about chicken keeping!
