About Me

I got my original two chickens, Gingernut Rangers called Buzz (Lightyear!) & Poppy along with my red eglu in May 07 "on a whim" for an early birthday present- since then I've been bitten by the chicken bug & never looked back. In May 08 I increased my flock to four with the arrrival of my Bluebelle Gertrude & my Speckledy Rosa (be forwarned- chicken keeping can become addictive, I found I didn't want to stop at just two hens!) In fact, I don't want to stop at four hens, either. We hatched in April & out of this hatch we have 2 lovely Light Sussex hens. We raised the cockerels for meat, & they have now been dispatched. Come along to my party to see how my chickens, children & cats "live" together in harmony in my small suburban back garden, and to see my purple eglu cube. I have over 2 1/2 years experience of hen-keeping, and in that time have come across common chicken ailments- lice & worms- moulting chickens and also of chicken introductions, all of I will be pleased to share with you. My very friendly chicken, Buzz, is always happy to have a cuddle by party guests, and to be my demonstrating chicken! She has also been into my younger son's school with me this springtime for a talk to the Reception class about chicken keeping!

Summer Eglu Party - Ann,

Very instructive and has given our confidence a boost pending the arrival of our ex-bats. Very friendly, lovely food. Recommend you go to one of these excellent courses especially if you've never had experience with chickens. They were well behaved and were happy to be handled, (the chickens that is). Had a lovely visit. Thank you Julia and Alexander.

Highly recommended beginners day course - Nicola,

Hi just wanted to say a big thanks for today, very welcoming and informative. Feel very confident now in setting up and keeping my own chickens. PS Ferg said they where the best egg rolls he has ever tasted. Many thanks again Nicola and Fergus

Beginners Hen Party - Janet,

Really enjoyable morning with Julia and Alexander, and of course Buzz, and all the other feathery ones. Lots of good hands on advice, and we're now feeling much more confident about taking on our girls when they arrive in August. Delicious home made food and good company. Thanks you very much. Highly recommended.

Excellent course, thank you - Elaine,

Thank you to Julia, Alexander and the chickens, especially Buzz, for a very enjoyable morning. I would highly recommend this course as I learnt a huge amount of very useful and practical information for keeping chickens. It was also the first time that I have ever held a chicken ? thank you Buzz! The lunch was excellent, with delicious egg sandwiches and cakes. Once again, thank you.
