About Me

1 have been crazy about chickens ever since September 2008. I now have 1 eglu,1 cube, 3 ex battery hens,  and 1 orpington  plus a baby Orpington .. . I am really keen to share my experiences with anyone who is thinking about getting hens, new hen keepers or just anyone who is enthusiastic & wants to come & share with me. I love baking & are really proud of my fabulous eggs & are looking forward to meeting new people to sample my home produced goodies. My chickens are used to children & dogs & are very friendly. I am  looking forward to welcoming you to my chicken world! Stop Press,  Petunia has her baby chick who is now quite big.  . Bilbo the orphan puppy  and the new puppy Bambi might make an appearance.  We will be using the conservatory for the course after I have shown you my cube and eglu and discussed  their maintenance. The hens are allowed in there and love to join in the party.

           Great evening!

- Louise, 16 July 2014

I really enjoyed meeting Sue & some of her animals. Her knowledge of hens & their care is vast, and she is clearly very passionate about all animals. Her hens are extremely happy, and her dogs are a joy! She spoke at length about Omlet products and was able to advise on the care & maintainance needed. She wasn't fazed by any of my daft questions! I hope to keep in touch with her. And now, onto the lemon drizzed cake....heavenly! Thank you Sue; you're a gem! x

           Learned lots

- Denise, 16 June 2014

Found out all I needed to know, Sue was very knowledgable and couldn't have been kinder. A warm friendly welcome, and an introduction to all the animals and birds, plus lots of information on taking care of the chooks and what breeds to choose. There was even homemade lemon drizzle cake with some of the prized eggs! So.....I ordered all my stuff today. Can't wait.

           Blackgold hen party

- Laura, 12 May 2014

Sue was very knowledgeable and friendly welcoming me into her home. It was much more useful than any chicken forum website. Highly recommended, especially if you are thinking of getting hens or want general tips and advice on the well being / maintenance of yours...

           Great course

- Jill, 12 May 2014

I had such a great time with Sue (and her chickens!) on Friday. She was really helpful, with loads of information about her experience of keeping chickens. I can't recommend her course highly enough, even though the two baby lambs ambushed it! Thanks so much.

           Must do course!

- Angela, 24 June 2010

I have already left review for Roz but happy to do so again. If anyone in Northwest area is unsure on whether to get hens or how to really care for them when you get them please book on this course. They answer any questions you have even if you feel it may sound daft - its hands on so you get to know how to approach your chooks and pick them up correctly and demonstrate on general cleanliness and health care. I had a query a couple of weeks after this course and emailed Roz - I had the answer from Roz and Sue within couple of days. We met some lovely people and are still in touch as newbie hen keepers. What more can I say!!

           Perfect Hosts

- Ste, 06 June 2010

We took a hen party with Roz, Sue and Andy today. It was really informative, we learned a lot about what to feed, how to care for the chickens and hold them etc. It was really relaxed and pleasant and they showed a genuine interest in us getting chickens. Plus the egg mayo sandwiches and homemade chocolate cake made with the fresh eggs by Roz and Sues homegrown salad was worth the money itself :-) Thanks for all your help guys and take care. Ste & Stu x

           Not to be missed course

- Angela, 06 June 2010

6/6/10 Went to Roz, Andy & Sue's chicken for beginners course today - they could not do enough for us, they answered any question that were asked. The egg mayonaise sandwiches and chocolate cake were delicious and very welcome. Very informative on care for your chickens and eglu and readily let everyone have a hold of one of their girls. Really lovely group and a very pleasant way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Hopefully will keep in touch with everyone who was there today via forum. Thank you again. Ange xxxx

The sun does shine in stockport!

- Brian, 05 July 2009

This was just what we needed to make sure we were fully prepared for the cube arriving next week and the ex bats a couple of weeks later. Very informative and covered all the things we needed to know so our new arrivals are looked after. The lovely sandwiches and muffins showed what we can expect and the advice pointed us in the right direction. Not sure we will go as far as the natural yoghurt and hazelnuts (only from a certain supermarket mind you - no one elses will do!) advocated by Sue - but our chickens can expect a warm welcome. If you are thinking of getting chickens you must go to one of these "courses" and if you live around the stockport way - who better than these three to share thier experience.

           Eggcelent!!

- An Omleteer, 18 March 2009

Roz, Andy & Sue were perfect hosts. Welcoming from the begining. They gave us a very informative session, showing us their chickens in a cube and eglu. We got to learn about keeping chickens, using and cleaning the eglu and everyday care of the chickens. The refreshments made by Sue were amazing and so tasty. I wish I could go again! Thanks so much.
