This is not a Swedish person saying thankyou. Stockholm tar is an antibacterial paste that is useful for applying to sore patches on your chickens, for example, where they have lost feathers especially if the skin is broken. If you have half a dozen chickens or less this tub will last for ages.

Stockholm Tar should be applied to the affected area, using a small brush. The antibacterial tar seals the area allowing natural healing to take place, and deterring further attack.

A plaster for chickens ! - Finola,

I bought this as my broody silkies had pulled each other’s head feathers out and drawn blood. It sealed the wound and allowed it to heal. Very messy - so wear gloves when applying!

brilliant product - Janet,

I used this to allow healing and feather regrowth in quail hens that have been over-mated hence had all their feathers plucked from their heads. they were healed and happy in no time. I use it for all minor injuries and they heal so fast. checked it out on my eczema and it is very soothing too!

An excellent product! - Lizzie,

This product is brilliant for covering up bare skin caused by feather pecking issues. It is antiseptic so it helps sore skin and unlike many anti pecking sprays it stays put for longer. The fact that it is totally unpalatable means that bullies are deterred from continuing to target that patch. Keep away from the vent/eyes and beak though.

Helpful - Polly,

Yes, it certainly deters chicken bullies from pecking unassuming members of the flock. Must taste bad. When the pecked, bloody patches are covered in tar, the vulnerable chicken seems to relax a little, join the flock, step forward for food etc. Sadly have to re-apply after heavy rain but our bullied chicken is getting used to the routine. She never objects so the tar must feel quite soothing although it's a sticky business to apply. She can till flap her wings, poor sausage! We are considering making their playground more adventurous and possibly introducing more chickens to see if this helps. We only have 4. Tar is helpful but maybe need a better, longer term solution, beyond keeping her on her own.
