I think the chickens were used to mash so after a slow start they have made up for lost time and love the pellets. Surprised how long the bag is lasting
I'm new to keeping chickens but the girls can't wait to get up in the morning for this. Eggs are lovely.
Super product chicks love it waiting for the first lot of eggs from them now they have eaten a whole bag
They are always eager to fill up first thing and gobble down the organic layers pellets before roaming the garden for morsels. I have had several hen keepers remark on their healthy condition and I put that down to the organic layers pellets being a good product. I did try the non-organic layers pellets but the hens were producing a lot more faecal matter and so I switched back immediately. I gave the five stars because Omlet deserve some credit too - for their promptness in dealing with the order and email communication. Thank you.
First bag of food. Chickens seem happy enough. Started laying. Don't appear to drop too many pellets on the floor.
I was attracted to using this feed because we buy Marriage's flours for ourselves and have always been impressed with the quality and ethics of the company.
It doesn't disappoint, the girls eat it happily, we have great eggs and I love that it is organic and GM free.
As long as my 4 girls like it and lay good eggs I am happy
On reflection this was rather a large bag to buy for two chickens but I liked the idea of being organic etc. Whilst they do eat it, I have found they much prefer the pellets mashed up and I have to use a pretty heavy duty pestle and mortar to crush the pellets. Add a little water to the crumbs and they go down even better. Next time I will buy a smaller quantity and probably look for an organic mash type food. Adding a little bit of bokashi bran to the mash seems to help as well.
My two chickens eat the layers pellets mixed with corn and every couple of days we fill up again. Eggs are the biggest we've every had and they lay every day. Can't ask for any more than that!
They aren't keen on it
