Frequently Asked Questions

The dispenser for both versions of the toy measures approximately 15cm x 8.5cm. It has 27 holes of 4mm width spaced evenly around all sides.

The assembled height of the Poppy Peck toy is approximately 52cm.

Anything that is big enough not to pour out of the holes, but that is small enough to actually get through them. The Peck Toy is designed for standard chicken feed, corn and grit, but you can try a range of different treats to see what your hens enjoy.
The dispenser holds about and holds approximately 300g, or half a litre, of feed/corn/grit.
The string is 100cm long.

This handy guide allows you to calculate the optimum number of Peck Toys for your flock:

Using as a treat dispenser: 1 Peck Toy per 4 medium sized chickens
Using as a feed dispenser: 1 Peck Toy per 2 medium sized chickens
Using as a grit dispenser: 1 Peck Toy per 6 medium sized chicken
Try using a different type of treat, preferably something you know then chickens really like, and that is big enough that they can see it. Carefully hit the toys with your hand or foot while your chickens are looking to give them an idea of how they can get the treats out. You can also put the dispenser on the ground to start with so the flock can investigate it before you hang it up or stick it in the ground.

The peck toy dispensers can easily be removed for cleaning and refilling.

Simply unscrew the dispenser from it’s attachment and use it to scoop up your chosen treats before reattaching.

When cleaning the dispenser we recommend using a non-scratch sponge and washing up liquid in warm soapy water.

Great way to give my chickens treats
Debi,
Two years ago, I purchased the poppy peck toy. I fill it with wheat, and my chickens love to peck and eat the wheat that falls out. Fast forward two years, I added several more chickens to my flock and that is why I purchased the twin pack. The original poppy peck toy is still in great shape after 2 years and now I can put two more out to keep them entertained.

Awesome!
Sarah, Vermont,
My chickens are in a confined run so I wanted to provide some entertainment this winter. They love these things! I bought two so everyone could partake. I fill them with black soldier fly larvae and scratch and they will peck it until it's empty. Awesome toy.
