About Me

Little Lodge Farm was started in 2010 by Jodie & Nigel as a family run smallholding in Knowle, Solihull.  It has always been important to us that our children learn about animals whilst at the same time appreciating where their food comes from.  There is no better way to do this than collecting your own eggs, enjoying your own bacon sandwich and picking some home grown veg.   It really does give you a different perspective on food!

Since the creation of Little Lodge Farm we have developed our chicken courses to cover pretty much anything you need to know about keeping chickens and also offer an excellent chicken boarding service at the farm for those times when you have to be away from home.  Through development of our smallholding and the Hen Project, we are also extremely proud to be able to provide individuals and groups with the opportunity to keep chickens for a period of time by renting them off us.  Feel free to email with any questions.

At Little Lodge Farm we offer three different chicken courses which are tailored to suit beginners, families or those who perhaps already have chickens. Our courses are very relaxed and there is always ample opportunity to ask your own questions and share your stories whilst enjoying a slice of cake and cup of tea!

After all of courses you will be provided with our Little Lodge Farm course notes and member discounts on other Courses, Chicken Boarding and the Hen Project.

Eggcellant and Imformative - Mjke,

Spent nearly 2 hours in the company of Nigel, Jodie & Family learning how to keep and look after hybrids and bantams. I'm just starting to have some hybrid chickens and the course helped me think more of what chickens I wanted, their health, well being, security and much more. well worth the money.

Absolutely brilliant! - Alison,

Jodie & Nigel were fabulous, the course was very informative and there sons were also very entertaining and helpful! They gave us more time than was necessary. We are now looking at modifying are garden to accommodate some chickens. They were very honest and I felt as a result chicken keeping can not only be fun but also rewarding and not that difficult.

Lovely people and really informative - Charlotte,

Just back from a very entertaining morning. Would highly recommend for folk thinking about getting chickens or someone like me who is new to keeping chickens. Very informative, approachable people-no question was too daft to be answered ;) Delighted to have spent my sat morning here! Many thanks.

Perfect - Claire,

Great course for beginners, weather your thinking of getting chickens or like myself 6 months as a new chicken keeper. Was great to get different tips, advice of feed, medicines etc and to actually hold a chicken if you wish. Lovely seeing the chickens free ranging & their set up of Omlet coop's and run's - given me lots of ideas.

Best 90 minutes I've had outdoors - David,

Nigel covered all that I needed to know. A really approachable and friendly chap. A great day - all 4 of the party would strongly recommend this starter course. I'm even more determined to start keeping chickens in the next few months.
