Fitting A Dog Into A Busy Lifestyle

This is probably the most important thing to consider and because there are so many breeds with all sorts of characteristics to choose from you should be able to find a dog that is a good fit for your lifestyle. So if you work all day it is probably a good idea to avoid buying a dog breed that is typically high maintenance like an Australian Shepherd Dog, a Border Collie, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, a Cocker Spaniel, a German Shorthaired Pointer, a Jack Russell Terrier or a Poodle.

Breeds that are better at tolerating being left alone include the Basset Hound, the Chihuahua, the French Bulldog, the Greyhound, the Maltese, the Shar Pei, the Sussex Spaniel and the Whippet. But remember, all of these dogs still need plenty of exercise and time spent with their family.
