Yeah Chickens aren't vegetarians. I give my chicken all of our table scraps they go crazy when i give them apples. They eat anything! the funny part is they hate bread and meal worms theyd rather have a turkey sandwitch, but my pullet chickens hate good human food (cooked or chopped up) they only want bread or apples. But

If you don't like the'feed meat' option, try dried mealworms as (extra) protein source, the chickens love it.

I agree with Donna, my hens (and cockerel) free range, and they eat snakes, scorpions, locusts, baby mice, baby birds...in fact almost any living thing they can get their beaks on...give them rice or pasta..(cooked HUMAN food!!) they won't even look at it!!!

I disagree about not giving your chicken meat. Chickens are not vegetarians! When I am cooking, I take the skin and fat from meat and boil it (to make it easier for them to eat and to kill off any potential bacteria). When that cools, I drain the water and give the chickens the meat products. They love it! This is especially good for them in the winter when they need extra protein and fat to stay warm.
