High energy when outside, high prey drive - Ann, 27 October 2025

Ours is a rescue from Cyprus she is a segugio dell.appaninno was used to hunt hare there ..she has settled to indoor life well sleeps a lot when indoors but when out is on high alert trotting with nose up to catch the scent and has eyes like a hawk can sense a squirrel high in a tree and will howl to tell you it’s there ! The howl carries across the parkland !! Never off lead due to high prey drive and one track hunting mind, kind with humans and other dogs, gentle and not aggressive at all ..very smart, learns quickly, eats a lot, drinks a lot, pees loads a lot of that is scent marking, also gives off a distinctive hound scent when excited

Beautiful to look at but shy with people they don't know. Scent hounds so rarely off lead outside of a safe field. Sensitive and endearing, stubborn at times but hugely funny and entertaining. Fine left alone for short periods, not noisy and love to sleep for hours, especially in the sunshine.
